PISC Year Long Tournament Rules for 2020
 
All entrants must be a paid member of the Plum Island Surfcasters for the current year prior to entering a fish. 

•Regular tournament will run from April 1st -October 31st, with awards given in November. Awards for Stripers from Plum Island and Exotics will be First, second and third places. Awards for the other categories will be 2 first, 2 second and 2 third place awards.   

•Die Hard tournament will run from Nov. 1-Dec. 31st with awards given the following January at the general meeting. Die Hard tournament will only award first place awards for striper and blue fish caught from the surf.  

 The categories for the Regular tournament are as follows (stripers will be catch and release only):

  • Striper from Plum Island
  • Striper from Surf 
  • Striper from Boat
  • Striper on Fly
  • Blue from Surf
  • Blue from Boat
  • Blue on Fly
  • Exotics (Species include Spanish Mackerel, Bonito and False Albacore).

There will also be awards in each of these categories for Juniors (17 and under). 

There are no geographical boundaries for this tournament. (Except Striper from Plum Island must be from Plum Island). A striper caught on Plum Island may be entered in either the Striper from Plum Island or Striper from Surf category but not both. The person submitting the entry must identify which category they want to enter it.  

Awards will be given based on length of the fish in each category. Fish must have a witness signature on the form or submitted using the Catch, Photo and Release criteria process when no witness is available. (criteria is same for kept with no witness). • Note: Length of Bluefish and fish in the Exotics category will be from end of snout to the inside fork of the tail. For Stripers it will be snout to the end of the tail.

Entries should be completed using the club web page or using the club entry form. Slips must include the following information: 

  • Species
  • Indicate if being entered in the Plum Island (C&R) category.
  • Senior or Junior 
  • Length for fish 
  • Name
  • Date of catch 
  • Time of catch 
  • Date of submission 
  • Surf or Boat caught 
  • Name of witness 
  • Witness signature (if not using Catch, Photo, release process) 
  • *Photograph for each fish if no witness. See club web pages for details on how to enter a catch and release fish when there is no witness.   

Any angler may only hold one place at a time per category.   

Slips must be submitted within 30-days of being caught. Slips must be submitted no later than 3-days after the end date of the tournament. If mailed in the post mark date will be used. 

Slips must be turned in to the tournament director, (see board web page), either by mail, Emailed, using the online form on the club web page or at the monthly meeting. 

We will have a monthly drawing and award for fish entered during each month. Any member who submits a fish for entry in the yearlong will have their name entered. A members name will only be entered once per month. For seniors all stripers entered must be 28” or greater and may be kept for the monthly drawing purpose. Juniors may enter any size striper.  There will be one monthly award for seniors and one for juniors each month running April through October. 

All tie breakers will be determined by the day slip was received

 Second tie breaker determined by day and time fish was caught. 

 All decisions are final.
