Beach Access: Second Site Visit on June 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm

Information comes from the

Newburyport Dune Restoration and Beach Access Improvement Project

The Project Team invites you to attend our second site visit to the north end of Plum Island on June 30th at 1pm. Thanks to funding from the MA Office of Coastal Zone Management and support from MA Dept. of Conservation and Recreation, lots of work has occurred over the past several months to support this natural resource, enhance user experience, and protect public safety. This is your opportunity to see the work firsthand, ask questions, and provide feedback!

We have this information from the town of Newburyport:
“Regarding the site visit, we hope to lead a tour of the area in late June so folks can see the mobi-mats, signs, and beach access trail maps we’re creating. We’ll be available to answer questions in person and talk about the work that has occurred, the process we followed, and potential next steps”.

It is important that members of the fishing community attend and present our point of view.  Please make an effort to attend if you fish this area.

Invitational Fishing Tournament: June 23-24, 2017

The Invitational Tournament is a team competition.  If you don’t have a team, we will find one for you!  For new members, this is a great way to meet other fishermen and learn their secret spots and techniques.  Fish as long as you want all night.  Next morning, everyone meets for a delicious breakfast and the announcement of winners.  Many thanks to Richard and Sheila Sunman for hosting the breakfast on Saturday morning.

This tournament is for club members and selected invitees only.  If you’d like to participate, you must join the club.

June 20, 2017 Club Meeting: Hooked on Fish, A Best Practice Approach to Cooking Your Catch

Hooked on Fish
A Best Practice Approach to Cooking Your Catch

presented by

New England’s WildCheff
Denny Corriveau

Master Wild Game & Free Range Chef
Founder, The Free Range Culinary Institute

Our next club meeting will move on from how to catch fish to how to cook fish.  His presentation will include a cooking demonstration with the result available for tasting.  Please eat only a light dinner and be ready to sample something delectable.

For over 25 years, New England’s WildCheff, Denny Corriveau, has been bridging the gap between Field & Ocean to Table.  Noted as the only national educator for cooking all things wild, Denny has an extensive resume that is unsurpassed for sustainable free range cooking.

Often referred to as “The Emeril Lagasse of Wild Food”, WildCheff has filmed for The Food Network, Discovery Channel, NBC Sports, The Sportsman Channel, NH Chronicle, and he is the featured chef for NH Wild Side.

Denny’s fish and game culinary work has also been featured in USA Today Hunt & Fish, Covey Rise Magazine, The Boston Globe, Northwoods Sporting Journal, and many other regional and national magazines. He is also a regular columnist for various outdoor publications and Foodies of New England magazine, where he promotes his clean-eating mantra via free range and wild food. He is a Board Member for the New England Outdoor Writers Association.

In addition, Denny has been a featured celebrity game chef on iHeart Radio’s “The Sporting Life”, sharing the bill with the likes of Henry Winkler “The Fonz”, Wade Boggs, John “Hondo” Havlicek, Bobby Knight, Louise Mandrell, Charlie Daniels, Ted Nugent, QB Jim Kelly, and many other well-known celebrities. He is sought after for radio appearances.

Denny has showcased his culinary skills for large audiences within the outdoor industry, and has been a celebrity chef for the New England Patriots, Duck Dynasty and other celebrities.

As our guest, the WildCheff will share key nuances that will greatly benefit your sea-to-plate cooking, and he will provide a tasty culinary demonstration – showing us how to put into action the knowledge that he shares.

Please join us on Tuesday, JUNE 20, 2017 for another great angling seminar.  Our monthly meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at the Newbury, MA Fire Hall (7 Morgan Ave, Newbury, MA 01950.)  The doors open at 7:00 PM. Dinner is served at prices that will not break the bank. 🙂 The club meeting starts at 7:30 PM.  After the meeting, we have a seminar by a featured angler. Seminars are free for club members; there is a $5.00 charge for non-members.  Membership information is available here.
